Summary
The Research Coordinator will manage day-to-day activities for research studies on in the Department of Psychiary and Behavioral Sciences, specifically studies relating to Bipolar Disorder (BD), a recurrent neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by wide fluctuations in mood, energy, and activity. This role involves participant screening, enrollment, data collection, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance throughout the research process.
- Job Duties
- Interview, screen, and recruit individuals for study participation.
- Educate participants on study processes, procedures, and expectations, ensuring informed consent and understanding.
- Maintain ongoing communication with participants throughout the study.
- Collect, process, and organize participant information and study data. Enter data into study databases with accuracy and attention to detail.
- May perform venipuncture (blood draws), EKGs/ECGs, and obtain vital signs as required by the protocol. Training in these skills may be provided if necessary.
- Handle, process, and ship biological specimens (e.g., blood samples) following protocol guidelines.
- Maintain regulatory documents, records, and compliance logs for studies.
- Ensure proper documentation of all study activities and data.
- Schedule study-related procedures such as lab tests, imaging, or other assessments specified in the protocol.
- Retrieve and deliver test results to investigators or other appropriate parties.
- Monitor participant adherence to study protocols and follow up as needed.
- Order and maintain research supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate with the research team to ensure the smooth execution of studies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the research objectives.
- Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in psychiatric or neuropsychiatric research.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with clinical research procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in data entry and database management systems.
