The Senior Underwriting Consultant underwrites and oversees the selection of risk of complex life applications.
Manages underwriting services to contribute to the achievement of financial objectives including profitability, production and persistency of clients; manages all aspects of the underwriting process.
Selects and classifies risks according to company philosophy and standards.
Helps to maintain profitable mortality experience.
Analyzes and interprets medical, non-medical and financial information.
Make decisions within approval limits up to $10,000,000, ages up to age 79, substandard approval limit up to 500%; limits established based on experience.
Determines appropriate requirements.
Communicates and collaborates with the field and home office to provide the highest quality service levels to customers.
Manages retention.
Reviews and provides co-signatures on referrals from other underwriters.
Participates in projects.
Assists with developing initiatives for revision and updating of underwriting practices.
Identifies and assists in providing solutions to work related problems and issues.
Acts as an information resource and assists with training and development of less experienced underwriters.
Maintains positive and effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
Remains current in profession and industry trends.
Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: College degree required, equivalent work experience in life Underwriting may be considered FLMI, ALU and ACS designations or current coursework toward earning certificates
