Remote Law Firm Bookkeeper

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing essential financial support to the clients operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management:
Perform the day-to-day financial operations of the law firm, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
Prepare and review financial statements, expense reports, and other financial reports as needed.
Conduct account reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance.
2. Billing and Invoicing:
Coordinate with attorneys and legal staff to accurately prepare and process client invoices in a timely manner.
Monitor billing activities and resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
Maintain billing records, track outstanding invoices, and follow up on collections.
3. Trust Accounting:
Manage trust accounts, including maintaining records, reconciling transactions, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Process client payments and disbursements from trust accounts accurately and promptly.
Prepare trust account reports and assist with audits, as necessary.
4. Compliance and Reporting:
Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements.
Assist with tax filings, including income tax returns, sales tax returns, and payroll tax filings.
Support the preparation of financial statements and reports for regulatory compliance and audits.
Qualifications: Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience required. Proven experience working in accounting or finance, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment. Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP). Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, ProLaw, or similar applications. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information. Familiarity with legal billing software and trust accounting procedures is a plus.
