Bookkeeper

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing essential financial support to the client’s operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management:
• Perform the day-to-day financial operations of the law firm, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and review financial statements, expense reports, and other financial reports as needed.
• Conduct account reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance.

2. Billing and Invoicing:
• Coordinate with attorneys and legal staff to accurately prepare and process client invoices in a timely manner.
• Monitor billing activities and resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
• Maintain billing records, track outstanding invoices, and follow up on collections.

3. Trust Accounting:
• Manage trust accounts, including maintaining records, reconciling transactions, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Process client payments and disbursements from trust accounts accurately and promptly.
• Prepare trust account reports and assist with audits, as necessary.

4. Compliance and Reporting:
• Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements.
• Assist with tax filings, including income tax returns, sales tax returns, and payroll tax filings.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and reports for regulatory compliance and audits.

Qualifications: • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience required. • Proven experience working in accounting or finance, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment. • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP). • Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, ProLaw, or similar applications. • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. • Strong organizational and time management abilities. • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information. • Familiarity with legal billing software and trust accounting procedures is a plus.
