Position Summary:
Cizik School of Nursing (CSON) at UTHealth Houston is recruiting its next Associate Dean of Nursing Practice. Serving as the Chief Clinical Officer, the Associate Dean will be responsible for growing and maintaining CSONs clinical business infrastructure, supporting faculty practice contracts, and creating revenue generating clinical services. Cizik School of Nursings BSN program is ranked #1 in Texas and 16th nationally. Additionally, we are ranked 18th nationally in NIH-funded research. We are proud to be based in the worlds largest medical center, which enables us to collaborate with several of the countrys top clinical affiliates.
The Associate Dean will be responsible for launching, managing, overseeing, expanding, and running UTHealth Services, a comprehensive clinic that offers primary care, occupational health, and employee health services, all in one place. Situated centrally within the medical center, UTHealth Services delivers primary care to individuals and occupational health services to employers across the Greater Houston area. Additionally, our nurse practitioners and physicians support the UT Health Houston community by providing health services to the universitys more than 11,000 employees.
Responsibilities include clinical strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of the clinical programs offered by the practice plans; leadership in promoting outcome-driven patient care; and collaboration with clinical agencies throughout the broader healthcare community in promoting excellence in education, research and patient care. This position leads the development of practice opportunities for faculty and clinical learning opportunities for nursing students.
Potential candidates for the Associate Dean of Nursing Practice position should hold a Doctoral degree in nursing or related field (MSN in Nursing if non-nursing doctorate) and be eligible for licensure or licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Registered Nurse in the state of Texas. Excellent faculty mentoring experience, prior academic leadership experience and credentials to allow appointment as a senior-level faculty member are required.

Position Accountabilities:
Collaborate with CSON and UTHealth faculty and administrators in developing, implementing, and evaluating a strategic plan for clinical activities and community engagement consistent with the mission and vision of CSON and UTHealth
Promote the visibility of clinical practice initiatives within UTHealth, the Texas Medical Center, and throughout the greater Houston area and surrounding counties
Serve as a liaison between and among other patient care and clinical units within UTHealth Houston
Promote an interprofessional approach to nursing education, research/scholarship, and health care delivery
Identify, create, and/or secure faculty practice and community engagement (i.e. boards, committees) opportunities and student clinical learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students
Develop and maintain agreements and contracts with affiliated agencies for patient care, faculty practice, and student clinical learning sites
Monitor and evaluate the cost effectiveness and quality of patient care and occupational services at UTHealth Services
Maintain a balanced budget for clinical operations
Generate new community-based clinical expansion opportunities for fee-for-service, contracts, and grant funded health and healthcare programs
Evaluate and address clinical performance, patient satisfaction, and staff satisfaction
Collect, analyze, and report on faculty practice data
Serves as an advisor to the Dean on UTHealth Services, clinical operations, faculty practice plans, student clinical placements, and community services/opportunities
Promote interprofessional clinical education and practice models
Oversee all accreditations for UTHealth Services clinical operations, employee health, occupational health, and health programs
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in nursing or related field (MSN in Nursing if non-nursing doctorate) Eligible for licensure or licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Registered Nurse in the state of Texas Appropriate credentials to meet university faculty appointment at Associate or Professor level Three years of experience in a formal leadership role in employee health, occupational health, or clinical operations Proven expertise in academic clinical operations Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills for innovation and/or funding in health services delivery Ability to collegially work with patients, consumers, faculty, students, university administrators, and community leaders Familiarity with academic roles, rules, policies, and procedures Prior experience successfully supporting a positive and productive workplace culture
Preferred Qualifications: Five years of experience in a formal leadership role in employee health, occupational health, or clinical operations Prior demonstrated success growing nurse-led clinical operations in an academic setting Demonstrated success in receiving grant/program awards related to clinical practice and student clinical learning opportunities (i.e. HRSA, CDC) Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Visio, Publish)
