With a strong online presence and a loyal customer base, were scaling rapidly across eCommerce and retail channels. We're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our remote team and take ownership of our day-to-day financial operations.
Role Overview
This is a bookkeeping-forward position with light executive support responsibilities. Youll work directly with our Director of Finance & Operations to ensure that our books are clean, accurate, and aligned with GAAP standards. The ideal candidate brings a sharp eye for detail, deep knowledge of accrual-based accounting, and hands-on experience in the eCommerce space.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Operations
Manage daily bookkeeping in Xero with a strong understanding of accrual accounting
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in bank, credit card, and payment processor reconciliations
Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable, tracking aging reports and flagging discrepancies
Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Assist with month-end and year-end closes, including journal entries and adjustments
Maintain clean, GAAP-compliant records for tax season and coordinate with external accountants
Reconcile financials from platforms including Shopify, Amazon, Stripe, and PayPal
Help track and file sales tax across multiple states
Collaborate with internal teams to tie financial data to inventory, COGS, and fulfillment operations
Light Executive Support
Manage digital filing systems for invoices, receipts, contracts, and finance documentation
Assist with contractor onboarding, W-9 collection, and 1099 tracking
Support the Director of Finance with ad hoc reporting and project-based financial research
Coordinate internal processes for reimbursements, vendor payments, and invoice approvals
Requirements
3+ years of bookkeeping or finance operations experience, preferably in an eCommerce environment
Expert-level proficiency in Xero and familiarity with advanced features like rule-building and custom reporting
Solid understanding of GAAP principles and accrual-based accounting
Excellent organization, communication, and follow-through in a fully remote setup
Comfortable with cloud-based tools including Google Workspace, Slack, and Excel/Google Sheets
Ability to work independently, proactively, and with high attention to detail
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with Gusto, A2X, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, or Amazon FBA
Familiarity with inventory accounting and COGS tracking
Background in high-growth DTC or subscription-based businesses
Prior experience supporting tax prep, audit readiness, or financial forecasting
